We just started insulin yesterday. Is Pearl every going to stop being ravenous? I feed her a little bit every time she wants some, so she's not getting more than a can and a half a day, but this goes on day and night. Hoping she feels full soon! Thanks for any thoughts on this.

A can and a half of what size? Like fancy feast little cans or Friskies bigger cans?

She will need more food as an unregulated diabetic as they can't properly utilize the nutrients in the food.... So they are literally starving. Feed her more if she needs it. Just no food two hours before preshot testing so the numbers are not food influenced.

Sorry, like Friskies bigger cans. And I've tried giving her bigger portions, like 1/4 can at a time, but eventually she throws up, I assume because she's gotten too much at a time. It doesn't seem to make any difference what serving size I give her, she is still begging for more. I do have some of the EVO kitten & cat no carb dry which she really likes, so I guess I'll leave some of that out for her to graze too. Thanks for your help!

I feed Phoebe continously. Every 2 hours she get 1/2 can of ff. They are starving until regulated. My girl was down to 11 pounds, now this last thurs back up to 13.4. Yay. They are hungry tho. :)

Thank you! Pearl was a high of 16 pounds but usually around 15 to 15.5 and is now down around 8. Guess I have a long way to go to get her back up there. Oh my...I didn't mean to be starving her! :( Thanks again.

You can't fix what you didn't know. :) don't be hard on yourself, everyone is learning. :)

definitely feed her more then... If you spread out the food on a bigger plate it might slow her down so she doesn't puke it. I'd say give her at least two cans then. Really just feed her if she's hungry since she's underweight. YOu said you have no carb dry... are you talking about Young Again? That's a great food to give an underweight cat... it's nutritionally dense and high in calories.

Chicken dry food recipe, estimated 7.9% dry matter carbs.
With Salmon dry food (coming soon), estimated 12.5% dry matter carbs.

I asked for a sample but didn't hear back from them. Maybe I'll try again.
Yes do Jan they were very nice and sent 2 5 oz bags of the chicken variety. They smell pretty good and miss Phoebe wants them over the freeze dried chicken, and she wouldn't touch the freeze dried shrimp. Don't tell the other cats!! They will take her kitty card!

Phoebe loves it, and @jayla-n-Drevon ordered it and I think both her kitties like it. It smells good. They sent me 2 pouches of the chicken dry. @jayla-n-Drevon also got the can variety.
YES!!
both boys like (and don't puke) the dry... Dre of course gets it as a tiny treat and Rico likes it too--
They have salmon "coming soon" and for the record no food spike even when I am testing often and giving a few kernals frequently.

None of mine liked YA except my shop cat and she got very sick from it....vomiting and diarrhea.

We got the Dr Elsey variety pack of wet and so far the salmon was most liked. I am not thrilled about the 5.5oz cans as most goes to outside cat or waste. I do feel good about feeding this food tho, I feel like it is a good quality as far as commercial foods.
