Hi, if anyone has had sim exp and/or a
way that helped it is appreciated.

16yr old, male with bad diabetes, contained with prozinc.
Ongoing pancreatitis, and bad what seems to be acid reflux, burping afyer eating issue.
Becoming severe, ultrasound, blood work, xrays all done and normal except pancreatitis
Has anyone ever dealt with this? Are there additives (thought once Inread about enzymes?)
Any help is appreciated, he is losing weight

Thanks Matt

Hi Matt, has your vet given you any medications to manage the pancreatitis?

Cats can take antacids like Pepcid or Prilosec, but a better way to manage would be to address what is causing the acidity in the first place. What is your cat eating right now? How often does he eat?

Burping by itself doesn't necessarily mean acid reflux. There can be many other causes. Please talk to your vet.

@Larry and Kitties Sometimes people use the word antacid as an overall description. I don't think @PerfumedCatMom was trying to differentiate that either.

Matt is "thinking out loud" as most of us do. He doesn't need a pharmacology lessen - as to the difference between a PPI, H2antagonist or acid reducer.

Magic has done this for several years. Vet ran a whole bunch of tests a couple years ago and kept him for observation. Turned out he was eating too quickly and was swallowing air. The best solution he had was to essentially burp him like you do a baby. It’s gross but definitely works.

When he was on dry food I got one of those special food bowls designed to slow him down which helped tremendously. Since he’s moved to wet now I haven had the issue but I think it’s because he’s now use to eating slower than he did before.

I don’t know if they make a slow feeder bowl for wet food but that may be what’s happening here.

Yea I know, talked to, no lie, 7 different vets in 6 months, had numerous x rays, ultrasounds done.
Blood work all showed nothing. Tried a couple acid reflus pills, did not try tumms? Yea I thought maybe someone had the same issues and might help

Thanks

I use Healthy Gut from Adored Beast. It has enzymes and some good pro and prebiotics.
