Hello friends. I have to move Snuggy 3 hrs away to a new home in 5 days. He is an unregulated diabetic because he is also battling chronic pancreatitis. Some days he does very well and some days he vomits and spends a lot of time in the litter box with diarrhea. He hates the 20 min car ride to the vet but does great when he gets there. Now I have to drive him 3 hours. I am so nervous. I have a plan to have all his favorite cat trees and things sets up before we get there. I also got te plug in pheromones. I am still worried about the car ride. Any advice? I am so scared he will be having a bad day and will have diarrhea or vomiting. He will have to ride with my other two cats and my two children but we are boarding the dogs and having someone else drive my car so I can be attentive to him and not be driving. Any helpful ideas?

Not from me, my cat doesn't even like the 5 minute car ride to the vet  .

Isn't there something called rescue remedy that you put on the paws to help ease them?

I am sure others will chime in soon.

J.D. is an unregulated diabetic cat with cronic pancreatitis, and he and I and his civvie sister Ginger, all went to the FDMB Pittsburgh Reunion, which is a 6 to 6 1/2 hour car ride each way for us, about 3 week ago. I bring all of J.D.'s meds. and their bowls and everything they need, and I give them each a squirt of Rescue Remedy before we leave and they each get a drop on the top of their front paws and some drops put around the pee pads in their carriers. We stop for a break, after an hour or so, and we all eat breakfast, and I test J.D. Both cats wear their harnesses and leashes the entire time, even though they are locked inside their carriers (and seat belted in) while we are driving. Also, of course, no carrier door is opened unless all car doors (and windows) are completely shut. Both cats have their micro chips, which I highly recommend you get for all your pets, in case they decide to try to get back (to their old) home, and they both wear their collars with my cell phone number (J.D.'s tag also says diabetic and his blood type (since it is rare)), and I put about 4 extra bells on each cat's collar, as well, before we leave the house. By the way, when I sing the the radio, they seem to sing louder

Hope that helps. And, good luck. I think having everything ready for them and all set up in advance is a good idea. Also, keep them in a separate well locked? room, while all the moving is going on (with a sign on the door of Do Not Open), and moving them last, is an excellent idea. Again, I would stress to get everyone micro chipped for just in case.
