any simple doable suggestions for inner ear cleaning? larry has gray gook in there. none of the other cats do. i guess bc he hasnt been able to groom properly. i think it makes his ears itch :( the vet cleaned them with alcohol cotton but left a lot behind! i tried doing that again and got no results. then i tried cotton with a little oil. nothing. without going out and buying those cat ear cleaners, is there some DIY home thing? help?

also...i keep forgetting.....i am supposed to link my previous condo each day. how do i do that??

thanks. :)

Get an OTC pet ear cleaner and some cotton balls.

Saturate the cotton ball with the cleaner.
Place it in the ear.
Massage the outside of the ear.
Remove the cotton ball with a wiping motion.
Use a dry cotton ball to dry any residue.

Hi,
has anyone tried plain mineral oil (the kind you buy in grocery or drug stores) rather than a special pet ear cleanser? I ask because when my (now 10 y/o) goddaughter was 5 & 6, her ear physician had us place 2 drops of mineral oil in her ears to dissolve any possible wax build up. Every now & then she needed her ears cleaned of wax by her ear doctor. It had been so bad that her teachers thought she was partly deaf. She's outgrown the heavy wax phase. Just curious because I'm tired of buying special preparations if something simpler will do: like plain vinegar & water for doing housework rather than a myriad of specialized products. Kinder & gentler to us & our planet. Just curious - appreciate all comments.
Best wishes,
Sophie

thats what i wondered! i forgot ur name! sophie! was hoping for a simple household item.
i have read vegetable oil is good if they have mites. supposed to smother them. idk if it cleans.
i edited that other post, tho. it works for me now.
that, or the hartz brand plain cleanser they have.
unless we can use something like the person b4 me suggested.

The Walmart stuff look fine to me.
The active ingredients in VetTrust Medicated Ear Rinse, ketoconazole, salicylic acid, and lactic acid, combine to kill bacteria and yeast that cause infections, as well as prevent bacterial growt

ty every1! i will choose 1 of those 2 i guess. gotta get the gunk out. his ears itch. bless him. <3
