I have been feeding my cat Harvey the ZiwiPeak canned food, according to Dr Lisa's chart they were between 6-3% carb on typical analysis however when I emailed the company they provided me with the DRY MATTER calcs which were 15g/100 for his flavour and 1342mg/100g of phosphorus.
Which numbers do I take?? Is 15% carb on DRY MATTER analysis to high for a diabetic kitty???
I've just purchased $150 worth of this food thinking it was the best thing :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:arghh::arghh::arghh:

The 15g/100 means the carbs are 15% by weight. Dr Lisa's chart carb values is the % of calories from carbs. fat has a lot more calories per gram than carbs and protein
  • Carbohydrates have four calories per gram
  • Proteins have four calories per gram
  • Fats have nine calories per gram
https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-track-your-macros-guide/

Thus, the % of calories from carbs is lower than 15%
Can you post the the entire info you obtained?

Hi Larry,

Thanks for your reply! This is the info the brand sent me, I use the canned rabbit and lamb and the free range chicken.

Thanks Larry,

I've purchased some fancy feasts classics (the old chicken and giblet pate, now called chunky chicken) as well as a locally made nutritionally complete raw diet that I'm going to attempt to introduce. Thanks for your replies it's really appreciated, I've been really overwhelmed the last few days but got some really nice numbers today which is promising!
