dry matter carb % vs % of metabolisable energy from carb

Hi All,

I was wondering what teh difference is and if these are different number which one should receive priority? My diabetic cat cannot be switched to 100% wet food (mostly because variety of wet food with enough caloric content is not available in India). She has always been slim and recently lost quite a bit of weight with her liver values shooting up.

I looked at ziwi peak's new steamed and air dried food. the dry matter carb % is 12.5 but the caloric content from carb is 9%. The typical analysis is quite detailed.

Thank you so much. THese are very helpful but given that dry matter % and metobolisable emergey from carb % are usually very close, I wonder why there's aa 10% point difference between the two
