I was shocked when I went to draw insulin and realized this needle could not get rid of air bubbles so I pulled it out of the cartridge of Lev and saw it was not manufactured correctly. It has two needles, you should be able to see by this photo the two separate needles/bevels.

Please be careful, these are GNP U-100, 31 Guage 3/10 CC syringes.

I didn't think about contacting GNP, I don't want a replacement but I guess it would be best to send them lot number info so they can check the machines. Guess I'm still sleepy this morning

Scary :o Yes, do contact themanufacturer and send them the photo along with the lot number on the box. I'd keep the actual defective syringe just in case as actual proof. If the manufacturer gets the defective syringe back, they may say that your claims about a double needle syringe are false. They need to do better QAs on their syringes and double check their manufaturing processes to ensure that this problem doesn't happen again.

I found a contact us e-mail address on the website. I'll send the photo, lot number (025116), and information.

I have pretty good eyes, although sleepy, this was hard to see until I put it under the light. The thought of what it might have felt like for poor Tucker had I used it is scary, I would not want anyone to use this on themselves, a child or a senior.

I've had one of those before, but from a different brand. Also seemed that needle lengths could very. Also some that seemed to have ridges along the length of the needle. Oh, and some lacked the bevelled tip. I called the 800 number a couple of times. I received replacement boxes of syringes (of a different lot.) I was told both times that I would receive something in the mail so that I could return the defective syringes, but that never happened. The representative on the phone wasn't too impressed. I think I eventually tossed them out.

I used to keep a magnifying glass in the kitchen and inspect each one, but I switched brands--to GNP.

My post last year was this one: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=5099&p=50384#p50384

And this one: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=6928&p=69359&hilit=double+needle#p69359

Another problem I've had with GNP syringes is the needle goes too far down in to the chamber. You can actually see the bottom of the needle in the barrel! I'd say I get 1 of those per 2 or 3 boxes in fact. That would affect how much insulin gets administered.

Good catch!

Donna, thanks for posting the links. I hadn't seen this happen before.

All these years and I think I have seen what Vicky mentioned, about the needle being inserted further into the barrel, but I've used them. Going forward I should toss those, didn't think about how that would affect the Lev absorption.
