Double-checking dose increase

Beau has had some good numbers these last several days. After posting here, the recommendation was to raise his dose to a fat 2.25U to see if those high greens would drop and the bouncing would stay at bay. Going into our 6th cycle tonight, it didn’t really change a whole lot, still mostly blues. But his nighttime numbers have dropped to be steadily blue, which is new. I’m going to go ahead and up his dosage this morning to a full .25 to 2.5U. I’m hoping this will bring those greens back. I just want to make sure I’m doing the right thing since the MPM is still new to me.

Thank you. It was Suzanne who was guiding me last week. When I post to FDMB is it OK to tag someone?

@Suzanne & Darcy I’m not sure what to do. In spite of increasing his insulin twice in the last week, Beau’s numbers seem to be creeping up the last few days. This could be the first time in 16 cycles that he hasn’t touched the blues, including two days of blue AMPSs, giving me the blues. I’m a little confused by that and positive he didn’t get into anyone else’s food. But, at least he seems to be feeling great and doesn’t look like a sick kitty. That makes me smile.

I'm not sure what Suzanne's feeling are on this but I'm not a fan of using "fat" or "skinny" doses unless you're very close to remission. Beau looks like he's not there yet. Generally, members seem to do better with making dose changes in 0.25u increments. He's been at 2.5u for only 3 cycles. I'd give the dose a chance to settle a bit longer to see how he does.

He’s definitely nowhere close to remission. Suzanne had recommended trying a fat dose to see if we could budge Beau’s high greens lower without a full .25u increase. It didn’t do that, but it did keep him in the blues. So now we’re at the full .25u increase to put him at 2.5u. Just feeling a little frustrated because he was doing so well and now it seems like he’s going backwards.

So, it looks like Beau is back on track with some good numbers the last 3 days. I had tried some new Fancy Feast flavors to give him some variety. But I think they were a little higher in carb count than what he had been eating. It coincided with the creeping up that was happening with his BG. This further makes me think he is carb sensitive. Between going back to what he was eating and a .25u increase to 2.5u 7 cycles ago his nadirs are back down into the blues. He did have a green nadir today. I am thinking that, because we are using the MPM protocol, I should increase by another .25u in the morning, putting him at 2.75u. Any thoughts?
