Hello, so my cat Jax gets 3.5 units of ProZinc and his numbers usually read high 300s or 400s pre-shot. I noticed that the last couple days his numbers were lower pre-shot (yay). So my question is: when his numbers read lower how much insulin should he get? Is there a rule of thumb to go by, like over 400 or high 300s, he gets the full dose, 300-200 half his dose? I know my vet says 3.5 units, but that's when his numbers are high and I know you guys base your dosage on the glucose number which makes way more sense. Please help me understand. Thanks

Hi,
I would stay with the same dose unless the nadir, or lowest point in the cycle drops under 90.
If you get a lower than normal preshot, you can stall dont feed and test again in 20 minutes to see if the BG is rising. And post and ask for help.
I would also recommend you try and get some tests in during the pm cycles. Pm cycle is just as important to as the am cycle. Try getting a before bed test in every night as least.
Have you read the prozinc dosing methods?

Keep asking questions :)
