Hi,
Hoping to get some advice on Shadow's dose. Last night PMPS was 198, +4 was 50- I fed 1Tbsp, +5 was 66 and I fed a little more. I've been feeding a little sooner... EX 8/1 I fed at 76 because it had been a big drop from PMPS of 145 and I know he's going to go low and I'm at a point where I can't stay up until 1,2,3 in the morning feeding and checking blood sugars.

Our morning numbers seem a little high although PMPS have looked ok. Maybe the higher AMPS have been bounces from overnight? I'm not sure if I should be doing a dose decrease because of the 50 last night even though his morning numbers have been looking a little higher?

Thoughts? Thanks!

boing.... that's a bounce. (imho)

if you look back on 7/12.... he bounced to red ( 2 hours after a green)

to reduce, it Is supposed to be below 50..... so you needed to see a 49 at least. You may have missed a lower than 50 since he bounced to black.
He could do it again so watch. (certainly when he's starting in the blues)

You don't have to stay up for night testing.... just set an alarm and grab a test. kinda like getting up in the night to go to the bathroom.

So, even though I'm 99% sure he would have dropped below 50 last night I still don't decrease him? The times I've let him go to see what he would do, it was more than setting the alarm to get up and test... it was testing every 20-30 mintues and treating for hours....

I'll go flag someone to tell you for sure....
It's your decision.... you hold the syringe.

I was always told it had to be below 50.... that's why I call 49 the magic number. You might have had a lower number at the +2 or +3. But without seeing it, you just don't know.

I am so on the fence! Rhiannon's right -- unless you have the test data, you don't know exactly where the numbers are. If you had re-tested or tested 5 min. earlier or later it might have been a 49. I think this is your call. You know your cat. I wouldn't make a habit of reducing because you think the numbers may have dropped below 50. However, if you are feeding to keep the numbers up on a consistent basis, then a reduction may be warranted.
