Dosing info from Libre graph

My cat is on 1.5 units of Lantus. He just got his second Libre on yesterday. He got his insulin dose at 2 pm and plummeted to 58. He is recently unregulated hyperthyroid after years of being managed on meds so that is complicating things. I had to syringe food into him and give kero to keep him from going lower which was very luckily to happen. Do I lower his dose?

Elise, please establish the spread sheet so we can see what his numbers are. It is too difficult to help you without that information. 58 is much too low. We can't see what his numbers are but please feed him to raise that glucose level. This group will help you but it sounds like right now you need to raise his numbers and lower the insulin. If you have to syringe feed him then stop the insulin altogether until we can get a handle on his numbers, what insulin you are using and what you are feeding?

Please don't take any chances with your boy. 58 is not a number to toy with. If anything, stop the insulin, let him go up and let us evaluate what is going on. Please, also, when you post tomorrow put the "?" in your title. You need some help.

Did you re-test the 58 with a regular glucose meter? The Libre's instructions say to re-test any low or high numbers.

58 isn't "too low" ...since the Libre is a human meter, we use human meter's normal numbers which are 50-120 but I did see the graph on Facebook and that was a very fast drop so it's good to try some regular food and see if it keeps him from continuing to drop (and testing 30 minutes later)

It will really help if you'll transfer your Libre data onto our spreadsheet. It's what everybody here is used to using and evaluating.

Here's your graph for anybody else dropping by.

Hi Elise and welcome…. this looks as if this is your first post here.
We ask all new members if they could post an introductory post on the main health page HERE and tell us about your kitty…….the type of insulin, dose, type of meter, what food you are feeding, date of diagnosis so we have some information to work with. Looking forward to reading your thread :)

Thank you. How do I transfer Libre info to spreadsheet? I fed him since I posted and he has stayed between 60-70 on the Libre. He is reading 114 on Alphatrak.

I have 2 diabetic kitties. Do I do a separate post for both?

Wow! You are busy! Welcome to them both!
No you could do a combined introductory post for them both, but moving forward it would cause less confusion if you posted seperate posts for them I think once you are seeking help. How does that sound?

You'll have to just look back at the history on the Libre and figure out where the test numbers belong on the spreadsheet. If you can do 2 weeks back that would be great but even the past week will be helpful.

Since we're all over the world here, we do time differently. Your 9am isn't everybody else's 9am so (for example) if you did your shots at 9am/9pm, the tests you get immediately before feeding/shooting are your AMPS (AM Pre-Shot) and PMPS (PM Pre-Shot)

Then if you scanned again at 11am, that's 2 hours from the shot, so the test number would go in the +2 cell. If you scanned again at 2pm, that's 5 hours after the shot, so the number goes in the +5 cell. You continue like that until you get to the PM cycle and it all starts over.
