? Dosing/Fresh eyes on SS please

So... I've raised William's dose because i was getting greedy and wanted lower lows, but I might have done the wrong thing? He only goes into lows part of the time and the rest of the time he's high and bouncing. Yesterday he stayed nicely low for a good part of the day for the first time and I expected a bounce, but his preshots on this dose are generally super high and he's spending more time in a bounce than going low. If you look up to the time when he was on a lower dose (3.4) his lows seemed like they were gradually coming down and they weren't all that different from his current lows. The biggest part is there weren't such wild swings. He bounces after every little change but on the current dose he doesn't seem to recover as quickly and the bounces are more extreme. Should I lower and see if 3.4 would ease the wild dropping and sky rocketing? I lowered him once before from 3.5 to 3 and saw an improvement then. Ugh!
 
I think the lower greens caused your 409 pmps and then he probably went lower that night after the pink. That was a good drop in the first three hours. So I would guess bouncing. Generally I like your 3.6 and would think he'd get used to the blues - the greens are more unusual and may have been a shock to his system. Having said that, if you want to lower to 3.5 for awhile, that could lessen the bouncing. I'd say go with your gut. Either dose looks pretty good.
 
I know that every cat is different, but is this kind of sustained bouncing and swinging normal? Does it level out? Also, do we know if it's rough on their little systems? He's been pretty lack luster yesterday and today.
 
Unfortunately I think the only thing we really know about bouncing is that they do until they stop and every cat is different. I think the record here is 2 years for a Lantus kitty, but that is very unusual. Most bounce for a few weeks or sometimes a few months.

The good news is that he is often below the renal threshold. We think that is in the 250-280 range and below that their pancreas has the opportunity to heal.
 
Thanks, Sue. I have to keep perspective and remember that, yes, he's often below renal threshold. I think I'll stick with his current dose for a couple more cycles and see what he does. it looks like he's inching toward something good, but the ups and downs are maddening.If only his body wouldn't rebel against healthy numbers!

Hi Vanessa - just know that several of us feel your pain (with the bounces) and you are not alone in your frustration-it can be very demoralizing seems like one step forward and two steps backward, but eventually you and William will get there
fingers crossed the bounce subsides quickly

I am going throughout the exact same thing with my cat Nicky. It can be frustrating but all we can do is fight the good fight. Just know that you have a lot of good thoughts floating your way.
