Dosing advice....

So..... every AMPS and PMPS is middle to upper 300s with the occasional 400+. Nadir is usually at +4. At 1.0 unit, nadir was scary low, so on Sue's advice I dropped the dose to .8. Thank you Sue for that advice! No more scary lows since then. So what needs to be done to get her to where she has PS numbers in the 200s? And these 400+ numbers are very discouraging. She eats home-made raw....3.2 oz, twice a day. After each test I give her a 1/2 teaspoon of FF Classic Chicken that I keep around for a civvie who doesn't like raw. Any advice is appreciated.

Hmmmm. Gosh, her mid cycle numbers look really nice. But yes, the pre shots are high. I don't have a lot in my bag of tricks. Dosing 11/13 won't work since neither pre shot is very different than the other. Shooting every 8 hours won't work because she stays in nice numbers till +10 or so. and the pre shots can be bounces. She has low enough numbers to bounce from.

One is to feed less at pre shot and then give a snack at +3, maybe +5 and see if she flattens out at the beginning and the nadir comes later. The idea is that the food raises the levels then and she doesn't drop so low so early. You may already be doing a version of that.

And you could just keep doing what you are doing, figure she is in very nice numbers most of the cycle and hope she stops bouncing, if that is what is happening.

Sorry, wish I had a great idea. All I have are some ideas....

Do you think another reduction to 1.6 will keep her from going into the green and thereby tell us if these pinks are bounces? If I understand the bouncing concept, it's the lowest number that causes them. Or, do you think a reduction will just cause her to start rising earlier and end up even higher? I haven't tried altering her 12/12 feeding schedule, but can try your suggestion to see what happens. I would feel better making a change like that over a weekend when I can test to see what's going on.

Her midcycle numbers are generally safe and certainly in ranges where her pancreas could be healing. I like the dose. I just don't like the bouncing. But it is different for every cat and for some, lasts a long time. We had a PZI kitty that bounced off and on for over a year and finally flattened out and went into remission.

I'd try the food when and if you want to and give it awhile and see if the pre shots gradually lower.
