Dosing Advice - Switching to Basaglar

Hi all,

My boy has been on Prozinc for about the last year. Due to some financial issues and basaglar being a 1/4 of the price, we are Switching. I have purchased proper u-100 needles with 1/2 unit markings.
Do I need to reduce his dose when I switch? He is currently only on .75

We take into consideration the dose you're already on when determining a good starting dose for Glargine (Lantus, Semglee, Basaglar) so we really need to see the updated spreadsheet.

One thing you'll need to remember....I notice your shot times vary quite a bit. Glargine insulin's really need to be as close to every 12 hours as possible.

You'll probably be starting at a slightly lower dose but let's see that spreadsheet before making a firm decision.

My spreadsheet is now up to date. I was going to switch today but have fell very ill and can barely get out of bed. I checked his sugars now and he is only at 6.2@+24.3 (112@+24.3) so I have decided to skip again and will start the new insulin tomorrow morning so I can monitor the cycle.
I will make sure to become consistent with my dose times as well.

I gave him 0.5 units this morning of Basaglar.
I don't think I bought the best syringes. They do have 1/2 unit marking but would be impossible to do .25 andrthe needle is so tiny I don't know if it even made it through his skin
