I have to go to work. My cat tested at 2:10 I waited 20 minutes retest him and it was 209. Should I give him his 2 units of insulin because it is over 200, or is it close enough I shouldn't? If I give him a lower dose will it mess up his regular dose and cycles?

I would... If your worried reduce it to 1.5.

It's fine to reduce of youre worried. They always throw these curveballs when you can't be around. Unless it's a weird number tonight do the normal 2.

Okay. I have noticed he's getting lower numbers, which excites me. But I'm uncomfortable with a lower number and I can't monitor. Do you think a full dose would have been okay?

We'd all love to have a crystal ball but you need to do what you're comfortable with especially if you have to leave. As you accumulate more data you'll be more confident of your ability to know how he'll respond. At this point he's a volatile kitty and they're harder to predict. The need to err on the side of caution is greater.
