Dosed wrong cat

Just wanted to sare the results of a big boo boo. Yeasteray I dosed the wrong cat with 3 units of Lantus. Watched him carefully throughout the day. No sign of trouble - behavior was normal, as far as I could tell. He is a bog cat, around 28 lbs, which no doubt helped the situation. I had corn syrup on standby. Just wanted to share in case anyone else who has multiple cats makes the same mistake.

Whoa, James, that was a surprise to you I'll bet! Are there two cats in your house that look that much alike? I am just curious as to how this came about.

So glad you knew to be prepared for any deep BG dives!

If you like, you can elaborate and tell us about your diabetic cat, and how you are treating him/her for the diabetes.

:bighug::bighug::bighug: Did that once years ago with thyroid and heart meds given to wrong cats :woot: Glad all worked out well, James...makes your blood run cold tho, huh?

Uh oh! Do you have twins?
Well - they are not identical but pretty close. One is all grey the other all black. Both short hairs. I had to leave for work early that particular morning and the grey one looked black in the dark. Yes, the mistake really put a scare in me. Been dosing the black cat twice daily for over two years. So thankful that he is doing great! Thanks for the caring posts.
