? Dose Question:100-150 but I won't be home. Skip the shot?

Recent increase from 2.5 to 2.75. Libre curve looks like this. Shot time is 30 minutes but I will not be home to watch for a hypo event. Should I be safe and skip the morning injection ?

Are you working today? Can you come home at any point during the cycle. Do you have time to stall? You will check the Libre with the handheld meter at AMPS, correct?

I would not skip the shot, but if you can get an AT reading we can decide about perhaps shooting a reduced dose. If you can’t then we still can decide, although our decision may not be as well-informed.

I'll try an alpha prick now. The Libre literally just stalled. Turned phone off and back on. Solomon is just so "unpredictable " and I know he may just zip up to the 300's which is his norm. I think the fall was just good sleep and no grazing.

I still don't know the acronyms - sorry. I was considering arriving late - but that won't mean I'll miss the event. I can wait until 7:30 or 8 to inject after he's eaten more.

He did the stand on hind legs for his churro lick this morning too, so it may be the b vitamin. Ok wish me luck with the prick. I'll be back and as always --- thank you being here with me !

Acronyms? You mean AMPS? That’s just a.m. preshot (for this morning’s reading before you shoot.)

I don’t trust the Libre completely. This past weekend we had a member who took his cat to the ER vet because the Libre kept saying kitty was in the 40s. He gave high carb and the Libre showed numbers dropping. He had been skipping shots for several cycles because of low Libre readings. At the ER vet the cat was over 700. The whole thing was a faulty Libre and the cat had skipped several shots as a result.

Yes the amps - my brain just can't connect. Lol Morning preshot reading I'll remember.

Good grief. I feel bad for our member/family here. I'm beginning not to either; especially pre shot times.

This libre has 1 day left of it ends today. Anyway I got the poke.

If you need to leave to be on time, and you’re not able to be home in the afternoon to test, just shoot 2 or 2.25 units for today and leave food out for him to graze on and it should be okay.

I would at least give him something rather than nothing. Even one unit will keep him from climbing too high as a skipped shot. Sorry about the Libre.

Do you have real time data being sent to your phone from his Libre? So you can check it this morning while you’re away?
I don't have that set up yet but even if I did - I can't "leave" in the middle of 1:1 client appointments which is what the "job" is.
And we have cameras at work and cell phones are not allowed out - at all. :/ so I couldn't look anytime I want anyway.

You have a wonderful day as well. I'm about to install the new Libre and get ready for work.

Just an FYI on that faulty Libre from this weekend.
I believe the sensor was damaged from giving their kitty sub q fluids on the same side of the body that the Libre was installed (from what I understand you must give fluids on the opposite side of the body to avoid killing the sensor) and the pet parent was not aware of that.
Plus, they had not been testing the kitty with and ear prick to check what was going on (they have now purchased a handheld glucose to do that if something appears weird).

Of course it stresses the importance of testing odd seeming BG readings from the Libre (if you can do so).

It was also really good intuition they had to take kitty to the ER to make sure she was ok ❤️‍🩹

I think the sensor died and day early; I'm not sure. I'll replace and activate. Takes an hour to calibrate and my experience has been it's never accurate the first 36 hrs - exaggerated high readings. It's past 6:30am. I didn't inject.
Sorry to hear the Libre failed (did it say sensor failed and instruct you to replace sensor?) or was it just not giving you no readings?

Personally, I have not found the new sensor to be unreliable for the first 24 hours (as some people report).
But everyone has their own experiences. So just proceed with caution and don’t just “assume” it’s incorrect.

At times, Ivy has been in a very low cycle when a new sensor has been activated and I have blood tested her and she is exactly where the Libre is indicating she is and it is in sync with the prior Libre, which had just ended.

But that’s just my experience, so I just wanted to throw it out there so you don’t just make blanket assumptions and think you don’t have to check anything if it looks odd.

**Always best to check anything that seems “not quite right”, better safe than sorry 🥰

Hi

I zipped home as when he has a "steady downward slope," in the past it just continues to drop. I skipped the shot because I could not be here to make sure it didn't keep dropping and then catastrophe.

Edit: the .25 increase was 6:30pm. He hit the blue zone 9 hrs later at 3am with the steady drop beginning at midnight.
Libre has him at 155 now with max low hitting 100. Now there's a slow increase.

But have a good day! I am happy that the Zobaline and him being in better numbers is helping the nerves in his hind legs to heal!

9/2 6pm dose question
I skipped injection this morning for fear of hypo and I would not be home.
Solomon stayed below 200 all day with no morning shot. Last shot was 24 hrs ago on the new 2.75 (.25 inc after 10 days).

Thoughts on tonight's dose ? This is unprecedented that he has not shot back up to the 300's but stayed steady all day.

Thank you! ☺️

No drama this morning?
Edit :: if you mean a car fight for an alpha poke :: he was all ready to "pounce " - " I think NOT ."

I went with 2.5 ; I'm thinking a safe choice. All he did was steady increase to the 300's after the 2 last night. In hindsight I should have done 2.25.
His majic dose is somewhere 2.5-2.6
Confession: I don't know what I'm doing sometimes. Just trusting my gut and what his body dose. I think now that he's responding to insulin I think it's metabolized quickly too. I don't know. I have to study more biochemistry
And good morning

Oh and In addition to my apologies public and private I wanted to really convey that I can see he is really making progress. You deserve so much credit for that! And I see from your notes how much difficulty you have been having with your sensors recently. It must be really stressing you out. But I think Solomon is healing and I am really looking forward to seeing it continue.
