Taffy has been at 5 units for last 7 days. Have actually seen some yellow numbers this week (albeit high yellows). Her +7 today is at 238 - the lowest I've gotten to date. When I test her again for her pmps and assuming she will be in the over 200 range should I bump the dose another .5 ? I sent an email to the vet this morning but she hasn't gotten back to me yet and thought I would ask now rather than try to figure out later. I'm ok leaving it at 5 also and seeing what happens. (i know not to shoot if pmps is under 200) What would you do with your cat with Taffy's numbers?
thanks!

Yes, the spreadsheet data supports an increase of 0.5 units.

Get a check before bed, just in case it turns out you need to steer the numbers with food. (Not looking likely with what I see on the spreadsheet, but sometimes stuff happens, like hairballs. Its a "Be prepared" thing!)

Ist day of all yellows!! and on the 3rd day of the up'd dosage...getting closer!! Oh I just want to hug her!! but I know she would scratch my eyes out LOL
I will be msg'ing again on Friday as my vet has seemed to have gone missing and the phone lines have a fast busy. Will try getting in touch with them again this week but looks like I may be searching for a new one - probably got blackballed when I told her I switched to fancy feast (haha). If there has been anyone on here in the city of Philadelphia area, would love any that are recommended (or to stay away from). I keep reading reviews but none point to how well in treating diabetic cats.
Thank you!!

Maybe start a new thread and ask about vets in the area?

great news on the yellows.. I hope you get a before bed test - she looks like she is still dropping to me.

If she wont let you hug her - play with her or give her a LC treat - she will like that too ;)

Non-food rewards.

How about some alternatives to food as a treat?

Treats for kitties don't always have to be food. I think the civies want the treat too, but most of all, they wonder what is going on and want some special attention too.

A treat can be a hug or a little bit of brushing or petting them or picking them up or a two handed massage or talking to them and telling them what good kitties they are or ear scritchies or play time.

My civie Monet loves some extra special attention, being picked up and slung over my shoulder and a close up snuggle. He is my lap kitty and the only one that will crawl up on top of me in the evenings when I am laying on the couch reading a book.

My civie Delta hates being picked up but she loves a little two handed massage, running my fingers through her fur, one hand on each side and getting down into the skin a bit and massaging from shoulders to butt. After a year and a half, I'm just starting to get this skittish semi-feral kitty used to me picking her up and putting her in my lap. But she'll only stay there if she is getting the full body massage.

My sugarhunk Wink loves head and ear scritchies and will purr up a little storm. No picking up please, and no petting unless he is in the mood. When he is not, he dives away from my hand. ohmygod_smile

Find something special to do for each of your kitties. Even if it's for just a couple of minutes.

I posted on the facebook site and if I don't get anything there I will post for vet suggstions on a new thread. going to test taffy in about an hour . she did chill out with me for a few minutes tonight :)
