? Dose Advice

Hi Nadine,
Can you add SLGS to your signature and SS please as you are feeding dry food.
It looks like you are on the 6th cycle after the yellows. If the BG does not drop down lower into blue BGs today I would increase the dose to 3.5U.
The reason I am suggesting this (even though you are doing SLGS) is because of the recent history of DKA and ketones. We don't want Theo lingering in those high numbers.
***This is advice for Theo only because of the history of DKA and ketones and not to be followed by anyone else***

Are you testing for ketones? If not please test daily with those high BGs and if you could put the results into the remarks column of the SS we would appreciate that please.
Is he eating well?

It's OK to increase if a cat is bouncing. Ideally though, you'd rather not increase on the same cycle that they break the bounce. Bounce breaking cycles can have downward momentum, and the increase just adds to that. I do agree with what Bron is suggesting.

Thank you both Bron and Wendy. I will increase tomorrow. I will also update my signature. Theodore has not gained back his weight yet. He's about 14.3lbs, was 16 before he went diabetic. Ideal weight would be around 15 lbs. Vet is concerned he hasn't gained much since his DKA episode (less than 0.5lb)...do cats normally gain weight quicker? To be honest we were limiting his food a lot in the beginning (per vet instructions) so I didn't see how it was possible for him to even gain weight. He has a great appetite.

Lastly, no ketones, I've been testing :)
