Hi everyone,

So, I have been doing my best to get some middle of the day numbers on Louie. I know it is not perfect, but I was wondering if people could give me their opinions on what they see and if I am doing things basically right?

I have been hesitant to give his full dose (1 unit) at a couple of points because I am afraid he will drop too low and I will not know. :-/

On a happier note, my brother was home for thanksgiving (for those of you who know my story, Louie is my brothers cat, but he could not take him to his new apt when he moved a while back. My dad took over Louie's care but was not taking it seriously and he lost a bunch of weight and was peeing everywhere. I took over a few months back to try and help him.) and he said that Louie looks much better and has gained weight. :-) He walked around calling him his "healthy fat boy." lol Well, he is no where near fat, but he definitely feels heavier to me! YAY!

Anyways, any thought on his numbers would be appreciated. I have a ton of school work to get done in the next couple of days (nothing new or different...lol) but I will try to get a curve today or tomorrow.

Thanks,

Laura and Louie

I'm not going to comment on the dosing, as I am at tbp and don't have but a second to post, but this will bump you up to the top.

Heavier and Healthier Louie is very good. :thumbup You should be proud. We are proud of you.

Laura --

I know there are limitations with the PM tests but you've got to work out a way to get at least one test in during the PM cycle. In order for us to help you, you need to have spot checks. Ideally, you need one test, in addition to your AM and PM pre-shot test per cycle. There's no other way to know whether Louie needs a dose adjustment. Please see this post on dosing.

Hi Laura--

I work two jobs and go to grad school, and I was gone 12 hours during the day for work during Bandit's AM cycle--and my work is an hour away from my house so lunch time tests were impossible. What I did to get my daily spot checks was to set an alarm for Bandit's nadir (about 1am), and I'd get up, test, and go right back to bed. It sounds like a pain in the butt, but you'd be surprised how quickly you adjust and it becomes routine! I'd also grab a spot check before I went to bed, usually at around 10 or 11pm. And getting up for those 5 minutes makes a huge difference in dosing--it allows you to safely and accurately dose so that you can get Louie regulated and hopefully in remission. They pay off, believe me!

On the weekends when I was home during the day, I'd do a curve once a week and get some more random spot checks in on Sunday.
