We've started Cali on ProZinc last night (11/17), remaining at 1u. So far, she continues to share a common theme in her readings - High in the morning (mid-to-high 300s), lower in the evening (high 200s, low 300s), and even Lower (mid-to-high 200s) before bed (~5 hours after eating). We have begun to give her about 1/2 a can of Fancy Feast before bed, as of yesterday evening. The link to her spreadsheet is in my signature, so you can see her progress here.

While it's certainly MUCH better than earlier in the week, we still wonder how we can continue to progress. I'm sure we're too ansy and are simply dealing with too small of a sample size, but how should we continue the downward progress seeing as though she read higher on Thursday than she did on Wednesday, and Wednesday & Friday were about the same? What are we looking at - keeping her on the same track for another week before making any changes? Or trying a small increase in dose (.25)?

Becky,
Before making any dose changes, please try to get a reading somewhere around +5 or +6 for a couple of cycles. The only way to determine what might make sense and be safe is to know how "low" the BG goes in the middle of a cycle.

It could be that an increase is a good idea. But can't tell without those in between shot tests.

We did that today and got 363, which is high. The other readings are on her chart. We aren't here to test in the afternoon, unfortunately, except for today.

363 is fairly high. But was she higher than that for AMPS? Can't say for sure. If she was lower than that at AMPS, and is lower than that at PMPS, it can indicate a "too high" dose. Of course, since nothing is simple about this thing we call the "dance", it can also mean a "too low" dose. That's why the more data there is, the easier it is to sort things out.
My advice is to stick with 1u for at least another day or two, and get as many tests as you can given your schedule. She's just now probably "getting used to" the new insulin, so things should start to make more sense in the near future.
