Have you had a chance to review the information we use on Lantus dosing methods? This is a link to the dosing methods note if you've not seen it. We have two methods -- Tight Regulation and Start Low Go Slow. They largely differ with respect to when to give a dose reductio and how long to hold a dose before considering an increase.

It's hard to give you input regarding dose without knowing which approach you want to use. In general, you're holding doses for too long. With TR, the dose is evaluated after 3 days/6 cycles. With SLGS, you evaluate after a week. The headache with holding a dose that isn't bringing your cat into closer to normal numbers is that it can allow glucose toxicity to develop. What this means is that your cat begins to treat the higher numbers as the new normal and it can make it harder to get numbers into a better range.

I am using the TR method, but I guess i used it wrong. Held too long on the last dose, but that.s because sometimes the numbers were getting low, I thought I was getting close to the right dose. But next day, the numbers were high again . And that happened couple of times

If numbers drop low, drop fast, or simply drop into a range that your cat isn't used to, there's a good chance you'll see what we call a "bounce." This means that the numbers drop and then spike back into a higher range. The lower numbers cause a stored form of glucose along with counterregulatory hormones to be released and the numbers bounce up. Bounces have a protective quality to them but are really annoying to the caregiver. It can take a few days for the bounce to clear.

I'd encourage you to review TR. You may also want to post on the Lantus board since there are more members there who use TR and they can help guide you.
