Hi all, my cat has been seeing some greens and blues but always followed by a bounce. Should I be reducing the dosage and not pushing to see greens or low number blues to avoid a bounce? He has neuropathy so I know it is important to get him regulated and bouncing is hard on the neuropathy. My vet is advising I give him 1.25units in the morning and 1 unit at night, I however think 1.25units is too much, and sometimes worry that even 1unit is too much hence why I pull back to .75units followed by going back up to 1 unit in an attempt to see greens.... then, bouncing comes through and regret sets in.

Can anyone give me some dosage advice? Thank you so much in advance.

Not a pro, but I use ProZinc and here's what I think. Yes, Oliver's a bouncy boy, but he was doing well on the 1 unit. You were seeing some greens, but nothing too low. If it was me, I'd hold steady at 1 unit for another 3-6 days and see if the bouncing eases up. Keep doing your home testing, and don't inject if his BGL goes too low, of course.

Hi Camille
I agree with sticking with 1 unit unless Oliver drops too low and see how he goes on this for 3-6 days as Juls suggested.
Bouncing is normal especially in a newly diagnosed cat who isn’t used to normal numbers anymore and when they appear, the cat panics and dumps stored glucose and regulatory hormones into the system and up goes the BG. This can last for up to 6 cycles. They can also bounce from a fast drop in numbers or a drop too low.
The way to help stop the bouncing is to get Oliver used to normal numbers again. So you don’t want to stop him seeing those greens. Green numbers are healing numbers and his body needs to keep seeing them so he can get used to them again.
Does that make sense?

Also always try and get a before bed year in every night. If the BG is lower than the Preshot you may need to set the alarm and test later to keep Oliver safe.
