Maybe this is a silly question but...
When Leo decided that it was time for him to no longer require insulin, I had just purchased a brand new vial of ProZinc. I can almost see how the wheels turned in his little head:
Hm. Went out and bought a new vial, huh? I'd better stop needing it, hadn't I. ;-)
The vial expires in October of this year. I was a tad miffed when I checked the expiration date on Leo's first vial-prescribed to us and paid for on the 12th of May-and found it to be expiring that same month. But, I digress...I know it's very soon to be getting rid of his supplies, but I'd like to have that vial not go to waste. I'm fortunate enough to be able to get a new vial if he needs it but I know that there are those not so fortunate. Are there resources to "rehome" the insulin? It has only a tiny amount missing from it-less than a tenth of a unit. If someone is in need nearby I wouldn't mind driving to get it to them. I checked with Leo's vet, and Leo was his only current sugar kitty, so no leads there. (I live in a very rural area.)
If anyone has suggestions, I would be happy to hear them. Would contacting DCIN be a good idea?
Thanks,
Kate & Leo
