8/22/11- Ok so I've been taking Heathys amps every 2 hours. At the end of the day, how do I record the curve chart. I've been searching for a template. I have windows excel, and of course Heathy's log on google.

You can make a graph either in Excel or in Google. It's not really necessary to make a graph if your SS has all the numbers.

I've done graphs in Excel so here's a brief instruction: To make a graph, put the hours in one row (AMPS, +2, +4, etc to PMPS), each one in it's own box. In the row under that, put in the bg numbers. Then click on the graph button in the toolbar. Choose a line graph with data points. For the X axis, select all of the boxes with the hours. For the Y-axis, select the boxes with the bg numbers. I think the next box gives you an option to give the graph a name and a name for the X and Y axis and other stuff. When finished, the graph will hopefully appear :smile: You can edit the scale of the Y axis so that the graph doesn't look weird with a starting value of like 300 and the next one at 374. And you can add in the litte tick marks on each axis. I can't remember how to do that, though. If you want, I can PM you more detailed instructions tonight and a sample bg graph of my GA's numbers.

I haven't tried doing a graph in Google but I'm assume it's done similarily. You'd probably want to put the graph on a separate sheet/tab and so it doesn't mess up the main bg SS.

Lol :lol: Squishy beats Mannie, though. I have 4 years of bg data on 3 different insulins for him :razz: And a huge SS. Some of the other old oldtimes have at least that much data, too.

A couple "forum etiquette" items:
In the Lantus forum, each cat should start 1 new topic each day (we call it the "condo"), with a subject line like this: "8/22 Heathy - AMPS... etc."
As you get more data, or have new questions, during the day, go back to the first message and "edit" the subject line so that it updates the displayed subject in the main Forum list

Seeing numbers in the 200's and low 300's in the first few days on Lantus seems to be very normal from what I've seen. Having higher readings in the middle of the cycle sometimes is also very normal early on. Until Heathy is "regulated" consistanly below 200, you may not have a normal curve at all. One problem this causes is that you cannot just test at +6 and be confident that you have seen the lowest number in the cycle.

Do I ready your SS right that you are testing and shooting AFTER feeding? In general, the recommendation is to get the test in before feeding to make sure that you are getting a clean reading not affected by the food. The shot should also happen either right before feeding, or frequently during feeding while your cat is distracted. Lantus usually takes an hour or 2 to kick in, so if you delay shooting until after the meal, the food gets to the bloodstream before the insulin.

Heathy is doing OK. All the readings have been right after eating. I'll try switching tommorow to before eating.
