Does the weather affect our sugar cats?

I wonder because we had a great sunny 2 weeks here and no rain, but since yesterday it's been rain and tonight severe thunderstorms. The cats all 3 of them seem more needy as does the dog, who while not afraid of thunder hates wind (he is a Katrina survivor) Just wanted to see if you have noticed any changes due to weather.

In my cats, YES! I live in Orange County where the daily average temp year-round is around 72 degrees. The few times a year when it rains (we get about 8 to 12 inches a year), they sleep all day and eat very little and those are the days I have to test Mikey more because I never know how he'll do. (So far, he usually runs higher but then again, it's only rained a few times since his diagnosis back in October.)

The seasons here in the UK certainly affect Bertie's blood glucose levels and his need for insulin.

In spring, summer and early autumn he usually has lovely blood glucose levels, and in mid summer will go 24 hours on a single shot about every other day. Come October, his blood glucose numbers - along with his appetite - start getting higher; and his need for insulin increases.... (I love spring!!! :lol: )

Interesting, not sure I would have noticed a correlation between weather and insulin needs. Thanks, now I know to keep an eye on that!
