I have read in many places here to limit fish. So I have cut out fish but came across FF fish & shrimp
feast and the list showed it had no carbs ..... does the fact that it is fish eliminate it as a treat? I just fed
some to Payne and since I am doing a partial curve, I noticed that an hour after she had some her BG
has shot up. (spreadsheet coming soon)

Payne is extremely bad with carbs and I thought no carbs great! Is it the food? Nothing else going on
that I am aware of. Thanks.

Well, any food will raise bgs some.. but fish is ok as an occasional treat. Some folks have found that their cats do better with higher carbs than is usually advised.. not sure but possible theory is something like rebound, no carbs makes the cats body go "WHOA" I am going down! I need to make some glucagon and boost my bgs!"

I fed Yittle FF Fish & Shrimp feast once or twice a week for about a year. His blood sugar readings indicated to me that it was indeed 0-1% carbs (if you compared the rise after eating to other known % carb foods it was the lowest). Now, admittedly that was old label FF Fish & Shrimp. There's some suggestion that the new stuff has slightly different carb counts then the old stuff, but it seems to depend on the flavor and this one hasn't been mentioned before to my knowledge as one thats different. I do remember that FF had said they were going to discontinue this flavor earlier this year, so I was surprised recently to see it back on the shelves after a long absence. I suppose its possible its changed a little but a careful reading of the ingredient list should show any new ingredients that "shouldn't" be there.

Then again with Yittle he ate anywhere from 6-12x a day depending on what point in getting him into diet-controlled remission he was at. Even the highest carb FF stuff, which came in at around 14-18% would only bump his blood sugar about 100 points within 2-4 hours. Probably because his normal portion was 1/2 can. He just prefered to eat a small meal frequently over a big one less often and since it didn't mess up his blood sugar, we let him.
