Does anyone know if phosphorus binders affect glucose?

I am posting this for my sister whose diabetic acro cat was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. Phos. level was 6.8. Vet started her on aluminum hydroxide powder. Her numbers had been between 150-230. Since the phos. binder was added 3 days ago, she is in the 70-90 range. the phos. binder is the only thing that's new. Anyone ever hear of this? thanks!

They should not have any effect on BG unless the cat is eating less. The PBs chemically bind, in the GI tract, with some phosphorous in the food to prevent absorption into the bloodstream

Thank you Larry. We were wondering about the sudden improvement in numbers but it sounds like the phos. binder doesn't get the credit. Thanks so much for your explanation.

Phosphate binders shouldn't directly influence glucose levels but like everything else, it all comes back around to homeostasis. When one thing is corrected and falls back in line, closer to homeostasis, other things tend to be corrected as well. Domino effect.
