Do you feed on curve day?

Disclaimer: I know you feed before insulin. I wouldn't give insulin without feeding him.

But I had only been feeding him twice a day up until recently so I never thought about it. A few weeks ago I did a curve and I gave a small treat after each time I pricked him. His lowest only got to 236. Then last week I did another curve without any extra food and he got down to 109. Wouldn't feeding him during the curve skew the data?

I'm doing another curve today and it's gonna be getting to the point where if I don't give him a snack soon, he'll find one on his own and break into the fridge or cabinets. So of course I'd rather give him something I know is good than let him forage. Last night he ate a whole take out container of sour cream before I found him

Previously I gave him Greenies which were left over from a long time ago. I just looked them up and they're 12% fat. I'm not sure how to find the carbs. But I got rid of those and have been giving him the Purely Fancy Feast treats variety pack, which ranges from .3% to 1% fat. The greenies were dry so I threw them out and have been in search of a better, low carb treat. I don't give him treats very often because he becomes a terrible beggar, but on weekends, I'll give him a serving or two of the Fancy Feast packets.

Hi Juliet, as Larry says above, a 'curve day' should be just like any normal day. :cat:

Be aware though that a curve is just a snapshot of what happens on a particular day, and it's likely that no two curves will be exactly the same. (And in fact sometimes they will be very different indeed!)

Curves can often give valuable information about such things as: When the insulin starts working ('onset'); when the lowest blood glucose of the cycle is (insulin 'peak', or blood glucose 'nadir'); and how long the insulin lasts in the cat's system (duration). We can also get information about how fast the blood glucose is dropping, and how quickly/slowly it rises again after the peak of the cycle.

Hi Juliet. I keep a record of food/feedings on my spreadsheet; that way I can see what might or might not have been food-influenced at a glance. I don't record treats, but I do record breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as snacks that are more than just a treat or three, lol.:)
