Ok...I just tested Calley and her number is 318. Do I give her insulin or not? She has eaten recently....within an hour so not sure if the number is higher due to the food or because she needs insulin.

Not sure what to do....

How low does she go?

If necessary, you can reduce her dose to 0.5 if you are concerned about her going too low.

I suspect it is safe to shoot something as she is over the renal threshold.

Her dose is .5 . She hasn't had one unit doses for a month now. I did not dose. I will test her again now. She is currently at 381 at 11pm. I will give her a small dose...will try to eye ball .25 or so.

I can see her drinking more and going potty more tonight....so she needs the insulin. I guess I should have given it to her earlier.

Stupid me....

You learn from experience! (*sigh*)

It may help to take a ruler with fine markings and line it up to the syringe, then count those tick marks to dose roughly 0.25 units. It can help you be consistent.

(I got the 1 unit from your signature; perhaps you might update that from the User Control Panel)

I must be blind as there are no marks on the syringe I am using under .5 unit. ack

Yes I will change my signature...thanks

Ok...good. You had my worried that I was using the wrong syringes or something. That is what I've been doing...eyeball method.

Funny....tonight Calley has been more active and wanting attention. Is that normal when the numbers go higher and she has been without insulin for longer periods of time? Does insulin actually depress a cat's mood?
