Katie has to take a 3 day course of of Zeniquin for an upcoming dental on Tuesday. I have to start her on them today, and it just occurred to me- is there a possibility the antibiotics will effect her BG?

It may, but if your vet knows he/she is diabetic and they gave it to you..... double check to confirm. Call your vet and ask!
Usually, as long as it is in pill form (liquids have sugar), the necessity for prophylactic antibiotics out weigh the risk.

Nope, the zen AB doesn't affect your cat's BG, but the bad tooth or dental issues may.
If you have an oral med that is mixed in a syrup, be sure to state that it MUST be UNsweetened.

Thanks all!
It's a pill form, not liquid. I didn't think of it until now, can't check with vet, they are closed until Monday and I have to start them now.

She is extremely sensitive to meds, vet had a hard time thinking of a antibiotic to put her on, so I don't know if he would take that (increase/decrease in BG) into consideration, he was just trying to think of something she may not get sick from.

If it did effect BG, would it increase or decrease it, would you think? Her shot is due in 4 hours.

Definitely give it to her then (blue said ok). If she's sensitive to AB's & Zen has the least side effects, it is best to use it. Vomiting and diarrhea and other side effects will interfere with her BG, as opposed to an AB with no side effects.
