I hope I'm posting this right! I added on the Facebook page and in the Lantus section too.
Thoughts? My boy hit a new low tonight - usually pre-shoot, he's at least in the 150's, but he had already eaten a little bit and he was only at 134. I gave him more food, waited about an hour and checked him again just a little bit ago and he's at 117. Called the specialist ER line and they said do not give insulin tonight, call in the morning to check with the specialist before shooting in the morning (regardless of the number he comes up at).
I'm hopeful and scared all at once - his diabetes is a side effect of pancreatic surgery, and he did lose complete control over his sugar the day after while in the hospital and kept plummeting (which almost killed him), so the fact that he's still coming down a little bit post-food, pre-insulin has me nervous. Could just be a fluke tonight, could be a good thing, or could be a bad thing. He was also diagnosed with IBD and pancreatitis, so I am nervous about his pancreas.
He's currently on 1 unit Lantus 2x day. Just recently switched foods from Wellness canned to Tiki Cat canned (zero carb). Since the switch, he has been in the 100's/real low 200's versus the 150-400 range he would up at before. He was randomly feeling really lousy last night (clearly nauseous all night) so ate less this morning, but seems to be eating ok tonight, and did not throw up anything. Still not acting perfect though, but better than before.
I want to be hopeful, but him not feeling so great mixed with the sugar going down when it's usually going up is what's making me nervous! Any thoughts? **Just to add, I will test him again tonight to make sure he's not dropping majorly.
