Did you ever hear of plasma treatment for pancreatitis?

Shiloh had 2 units of a healthy cat's plasma when he was in the hospital. I think that is what saved his life. I wonder who the cat was who donated, and if he was being taken care of humanely. They get it from someplace like a lab. Does that mean there are a bunch of lab cats for that purpose? That makes me feel sad that my cat got better from a cat in a lab. Wish I could do something for that cat, like hug it and tell him he saved Shi's life. Donna

I've seen posters at my vet office about a local vet clinic seeking cats who can donate blood and plasma to help save other cats. Seen it for dogs too. I think they have banks for this sort of thing, much like blood/plasma banks for humans. Doubt it was from a cat just living in a lab all it's life. But I could be wrong.

My old vet kept a couple of blood cats in the clinic. They were well cared for and well loved...had the run of the clinic.
