Sam had his first curve yesterday. Today he's been fiesty to say the least. He hasn't bitten me this much since the first few months of his captivity. A few minutes ago he came into the living room and pooped on the rug. Definitely not a normal behavior for him, although there have been a couple of incidence of peeing outside the litter box in the past few months. I'm less concerned about the location than I am about the quality. It was very soft. He had a few bouts earlier in the summer and the vet's tests at that time are what found the diabetes. He didn't have any parasites or bacteria, and he's indoor only.

So I'm wondering if occasional diarrhea just comes with the territory now, or if this is something to be concerned about?

Just did it. A few minutes early, but he's at 120. Up from 113. Adding it to his spreadsheet now...

Thanks for the update. I asked because I've read here that sometimes kitties can have 'accidents' if their BG is on the low side so I thought it might not be a bad idea to double-check. :)

From my reading of this forum over the last year or so, it appears that some diabetic kitties may have elimination issues. Nevertheless, I think it's always wise to have a chat with the vet when unusual clinical signs appear.

Is he eating okay? Does he appear nauseous at all? Signs of nausea include licking their lips, walking up to a food bowl as though they're hungry then walking away. Has there been a recent food change?

If his next poop is soft, I'd ask the vet. I'm actually more concerned about the location (the consistency could just be due to stress from being poked a lot yesterday, more than he's used to). It's not normal for kitties to go outside the box. How's his temperament right now? Is he acting normal in all other ways? I think if he were mine I'd keep an eagle eye on him and if I saw anything else unusual, I'd swoop him off to the vet.

He's eating and drinking fine, and was playing with the feather wand thingy just a few minutes before the incident. Now he's taking a nap (normal time for him to be sleeping). I'll definitely keep an eye on him though.

Interesting that he was exercising prior to the incident. Exercise can cause a drop in blood glucose levels.
