Diahhrea

Yesterday evening, I noticed Gobbles (heard him!) just had diahhrea...and there was more in the box...this morning I noticed a pile of it as well. Is this common in diarrhea cats? I did give him a can of a low carb food that he hasn't had for a lond time. I am keeping an eye on him...how can I get some fluid in him? i am thinking I shouldn't re-feed him...

Abrupt food changes often trigger diarrhea +/- vomiting.

Right now, I'd stick with a single protein source such as turkey or chicken and not do a lot of changing up.

Adding some FortiFlora (get it online where its cheaper) may help with the diarrhea.

so do you mean strictly raw ( or I can use my dehydrator) meat? Thank you

Some cats are sensitive to beef, pork, venison, or lamb because these are not animals cats would normally eat.

Poultry, rabbit, or if you're inclined, (frozen) whole mouse or rat (on-line vendors), are some of the prey types a housecat might successfull catch and eat if outdoors.

He likes chicken and turkey varieties, as well as seafood varieties. I gave him some Friskies Tuna & Egg yesterday, and I have a sneaking suspicion that may have been the cause of his diahhrea (sp?). On another note, can I give him RAW chicken and turkey? He has no problem eating raw beef and venison, but he's not real big on pork and lamb and I don't know if I could get by the frozen rodents, however, I would happily hunt them for him, really!

Follow food safety practices for raw meats and, yes you can feed raw, if it is nutritionally supplemented. Just raw meat alone will be an unbalanced diet.

You can go to Petco and buy a small sample bag of the Nature's Variety Frozen Raw medallions Just defrost one chunk and mix it with the canned and that will likely make the diarrhea go away

All of the friskies foods contain rice, which is a common intolerance in cats. Fish is another common intolerance. I would eliminate foods with those ingredients and see if it clears up. Fortiflora also helps aa lot.
