Hello, my name is Gena from Brisbane, Australia and my cat is a beautiful dark grey tabby, called Lucy.
She is 11 years old and apart from losing weight over a few months, everything else seemed ok.
I booked her in for a check over this morning and was so sad when the Vet rang me to say she is Diabetic and needs to go onto insulin injections.
She stayed for the day and they needed to sedate her to get blood as our always gentle and friendly puss turned ferocious.
I picked up a very sleepy cat at 3pm and have to drop her back there again at 8am tomorrow morning.
I picked up the insulin prescription Optisulin Solostar 100 Units / Ml (Glargine), syringes and needles.
Lucy had to return tomorrow to have an insulin injection in the morning and then after monitoring, another one tomorrow afternoon. Then hopefully home.
Her vet said she will be on insulin injections for the test of her life.
He said because of her age, it will be less likely that she will go into remission.
I am so sad.
