Diabetic Dog....Lantus???

I now have a cat and a dog with diabetes. :cry: I have been reading on Lantus for dogs and what I'm seeing is it doesn't work well for dogs. My cat Pepper is on Lantus and doing great on it, and I was hoping I could put Buddy (my dog) on it too. In all the tests I have seen on it, it's looking like they are only feeding 2 times after the shot and they are having very low readings when they test their BG at +6 (low). I think a third feeding (at +6 like I do with Pepper) would solve this problem. I think the 2 feeding schedule is for people that work. Since I am retired, I can do a third feeding and think I wouldn't have this problem.

Does anyone know of a forum like this one for dogs? I have been looking for 2 days now and only found one that has been inactive since July.

Thanks for the info. At least this time I'm confident I can handle all the testing and the shots since I have had 6 months of experience with Pepper.

It looks like I now have a full time job taking care of my babies. ohmygod_smile
