Diabetic Cats and Rabies Shots

I think this is the area I was told to come to in order to ask this question.
If I am supposed to be somewhere else, please let me know.

Can the rabies shot cause a diabetic kitty to come out of remission?

I spoke with one person who tested this for me and they said their kitty's bgl went up but it soon came back to normal.
So, can it cause some kitties to go up and not come back down?

And if so, I need to inform my vet to provide a document, excusing Mouzer from the rabies shot, so that we can remain legal with the county and just renew county registration each year.

I would delete this post but I do not see a way to do that.
I searched the forum and came across a thread where it appears the rabies shot would not cause a kitty to come out of remission. I do wonder a bit about that Mouzer got a three year rabies shot, so is it possible the three year dose is too much at once for the diabetic cat in remission?

Here is the thread I mentioned: https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/rabies-vaccine-and-diabetic-cat.153791/

I think you really should do the obliged by law rabies vaccination. Let your vet due the judgement on Mouzer and don't even compare with others cats at all.

Like in people, vaccines effect people differently. So yes, a rabies shot can bring a cat out of remission. It can also result in death. All my cats get rabies and FVRC vaccination. I have not seen any adverse effect except one did not eat much the next morning. After that he was fine.
.

If I had to hazard a guess, it may not be the shot that causes a rise in BG. A trip to the vet is more likely to cause stress which then raises BG. Of course, if there is a slight vaccine reaction, this may also cause a slight, temporary rise in BG. Some cats do seem to feel a bit under the weather for a day after their shots. Again - this is temporary.

Thank you all for responding. I think before we give Mouzer another shot, when rabies shot renewal comes due, I will ask my vet to provide a waiver to be on the safe side. I do not trust a vet, not even the one I have that I trust, on anything to do with diabetes, so I do not expect them to be able to respond with an educated answer where I can trust that they are really educated in the answer they supply.

A waiver only helps avoid a criminal charge if your cat bites someone. You are still libel for civil lawsuit. Also, if you cat bites someone it may be quarantined someplace other than your home. Bottom line I wouod get the rabies when it is due in the future.

Mouzer does not bite, nor does Mouzer have any teeth hahaha Mouzer will run and hide.
Mouzer is not around anyone but my husband, myself, our veterinarians and techs. I am not concerned about Mouzer to bite, in the least.
I am not concerned about strange animals because Mouzer is indoors and has been indoors for the entire 11 years of his life.
My vet does not even like it that animals have to be vaccinated.
I am more concerned about Mouzer's bgl. And I do not like vaccines, so having any animal vaccinated goes against my grain.
I do not get vaccinated and I do not appreciate my animals being forced vaccinated.
I avoided vaccines for all animals since they began in my life ten to fifteen years ago, depending on the animal.
It came that I needed to get them all done for the sake of being legal and if a waiver keeps no vaccination legal, then that is certainly what I prefer.
I had one other kitty to get a waiver because he was not well. Vaccines should not be given to any animal who is not well ... Mouzer is not well.
I wish I asked for the waiver when it came Mouzer's turn, but I did not think of it at the time.
There were many kitties to have done and we ran them through in a line, trip by trip, group by group.
