Mid January my cat Cody was diagnosed with Diabetes. He’s been doing very well on Friskies Pate and Lantus, even lowering dose to half unit twice daily after we did a couple of curves at home. Last curve(2/14) was great, 110 to 140 range all day. Normal for him is to always greet me at the door ready to eat and request seconds. Sometime late last night or early this morning he got his paws on a 1.25 ounce bag of Beggin Treats dog treats. All I found was the empty bag so unsure if any of the other cats helped or if Cody ingested the whole bag. His appetite and behavior this morning were normal but tonight I had to hunt him down. He was in hiding and hissed when I picked him up to check blood glucose, which was 235 at 515pm. Anyone run into a similar situation ? Would simple carb overload make him feel so lousy or can ingesting dog treats cause other issues for a diabetic cat ? Just trying to figure out how to help the poor guy until we can reach our vet in the morning.

What do the treats have in them in the ingredients list.?
It sounds as if he is feeling unwell. Could be simply too many carbs. See if he will drink water for you.

Hope you can see the ingredients from this pic. If I understand how to calculate, carb content is extremely high. By 730pm Cody’s Glucose was down to 140. He came out on his own to use the litter box, eat a good amount of Friskies, get Lantus, then curled up to nap in his usual cat tree. This morning his behavior is back to normal, wanting breakfast before I even get a cup of coffee I will check his glucose again before breakfast but already looks much better.
