Diabetes/triaditis/cardiac

I am just looking for some advice. My cat was diagnosed with triaditis about 3 weeks ago. He was on cerenia, leukeran, pred, atigal and viokase. He has been done with the cerenia for awhile and is now just on the other 4. He has had the gambit of test run. CBC/Chemistries/Pancreas panel/xray and ultrasound
My questions are these-
How long does it take for these cats to return to normal? While he has bright spots he still hangs out by his heater in his favorite bed almost all day.
Does the appetite return? He eat very little and only when coaxed.
Has anyone had success treating this with just leukeran and not Pred. He has started getting fluid around his heart from the pred (he has a carddiologist appt in 2 weeks)
Gut noises- he had never had loud belly noises and now he does. Has anyone seen/heard that?

Thanks

Angel

I have no actual experience with triaditis but from what I read you will always have to treat it. I am sorry you and Remy are going through this.
I did want to add that my civie, Phoebe, does get the belly noises, usually right after she vomits. So it doesn't happen often but I remember the first time I heard it, it freaked me out a little because I had never heard a cat's tummy do that.
Again, hugs to you and Remy!

Hi Angel

Are you able to move up the cardiology appointment? Is your vet tapering off the pred? Is he having trouble breathing?

Regarding your specific questions, triaditis kitties can suffer flare-ups during which they feel poorly, but the goal of course is to stabilize them long-term so that the flares are few and far between. The gurgling belly might be indigestion or gas -- are you feeding a different type of food? I would report this to your vet.

Thanks for he response. He actually went to the vet yesterday and had a recheck of everything (CBC/Chem/pancreas test/radiographs). The vet is tapering off the pred and the rads show improvement in his lung field. No difficulty breathing and he is not wheezing since his last dose of lasix. He was extremely backed up on xray and while he has been defecating it was obviously not as much as he should have been. He got an enema yesterday and has been wandering the hosue and acting great since then. Ufortunately he was put on lactulose for the defecating problem so now I have to watch his glucose levels even more.

Glad he seems to be feeling better. I give Phoebe mirilax mixed in with her food to help with her constipation and I don't think you have to worry about the numbers going up with that. I am not positive, though, and Phoebe is a civie. Just wanted to share that option with you.
