I'm not sure how many people on the board know about getting insulin for humans, certainly we can't get any discounts for our cats! I think you might be in the US and I do know that some US people order their cats' insulin from Canada because that is cheaper than buying in the US. I know of one lady on the board that has diabetes herself as well as her cat so I will send a message to her for you and ask her to look at your post, maybe she can tell you if there is some kind of assistance available.

How to pay for diabetes insulin? My Husband was in the Hospital for 4 days and now has to take insulin he now has type 1 diabetes He also takes metformin.My husband is 47 yrs old.He has basic healthinsurance but that does not cover his insulin.He went to purchase his insulin and it is very exspensive is there some assistance for someone his age to help cover the cost of his insulin.

Hi Ferminia. If you live in the US, contact the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and/or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). JDRF is specific to type 1. Both organizations may be able to help you or direct you to where you can get assistance. Also, ask your husband's doctor if he/she knows how he can get assistance. And, Canada may have much better prices. I am sorry to hear about your husband. Please feel free to PM me if you want some support or more info. I have had type 1 for 48 years and would be pleased to assist you with anything I am able to.

How gradual does one have to be when changing insulin schedules? My boyfriend started taking insulin (10CCs) Tuesday, at the doctor's office, they started at 10am. The last few days he has been taking his insulin around 10am. However, he prefers to take insulin at night, because of his work schedule. Is it safe to take Thursday's insulin three hours earlier in the morning, say, around 7am, and then again, Thursday night around midnight, take "Friday's insulin" then Saturday night, take the insulin around 11pm? And continue to take the insulin at 11pm every night from then on. Or, should the change be more gradual than that? How exact do you have to be about taking it at the "same time" every day?
