Hi there,
My name is Mary Jo and I just returned with my cat Edgar (14 years, a Siamese mix) from the Vet. He had a blood sugar level of 385 mg/dl...quite a high value and he was showing the typical symptoms like continuous drinking. The Vet told me that his hyperglycaemia was still quite young, as his biochemical blood parameters were perfect. Indeed, he started his excessive drinking about 2 weeks ago... I hope he can be helped. confused_cat
Could anyone give me a feedback about the "normal" treatment of feline diabetes? Thank you so much for considering.
Mary Jo

Welcome! it is a scary diagnosis, but a fairly easy disease that can be treated economically, at home. Everyone who answers your post is paying it forward for help they received when they were new and frightened. We have a very successful protocol that incorporates a mild, long lasting insulin (like Lantus, Levemir or ProZinc) with testing glucose levels at home with a wet low carb diet.

Here's our FAQ page: FAQs

Here is a video that shows how we test: Video for hometesting

Here is the info on the diet: www.catinfo.org

Do lots of reading and ask questions. We'd love to help!
