diabetes and IBD

Good morning.

My cat was diagnosed three days ago. I wrote yesterday he was not eating and he ended up being hospitalized because of this. His sugar was at 640.
I have to ween him of the pred and I believe that this contributed to him not eating (but also the reason I think he has ibd)
Any suggestions on how to balance these two?

Talk to your vet abut using budesonide for the IBD. It has little effect on BG. I have had several cats on budesonide.

With diabetes? It is not recommended. It is still a steroid.

Yes, budesonide is steroid but only really effects the GI tract and has little effect on BG. I have used it on tow diabetic cats.
