My Heart is prone to eye crusties (for lack of a better word). Always have to clean his eyes, a few times a day. Anyway, when he became diabetic, the crusties disappeared. Eyes stayed nice and clean. Now that his BG is under control, the crusties are coming back. Just a weird observation....

This is probably because he didn't feel well and was less active when he was uncontrolled. The eye crusts consist of stuff that got onto the surface of the eyeball (from being active, playing, exploring, etc.) so inactive cats may not have any eye discharge. The difference is the same for humans; if you spend the day at the beach or biking in the park vs. a day at home in front of the computer, you'll wake up with more or less eye discharge.
