Hi,
Wrigley went to the vet last week to get a checkup and a new blood test. The blood test came back today and everything but his glucose was good. It was a really good improvement over his last one so we are excited about that. During the exam, the vet showed us a red spot on his gums under 1 tooth. She said the rest looked fine. She said that she would email an estimate of the dental work they thought he would need. We got it today and it is super expensive. They said he could need Care Level B which included:
-Up to 2 tooth extractions
-Additional surgical anesthesia time ranging up to 1 hour
-Therapy laser to promote healing
-Home pain medications dispensed
-Free post-op recheck in 10 to 14 days
The low end estimate was $834 and the high end was $1495. That is way more than I expected to see. He isn't having any issues eating and doesn't show any signs of teeth bothering him. This is the first we have ever heard of teeth issues with him.
Do those estimates sound correct based on what any one else has seen? Is there any other options that we could ask about? Antibiotics to clear it up and just a teeth cleaning or something? I would love to not have to spend $800-$1500 on dental care.
Thanks
