Gracie's dental is completed. They only extracted 1 tooth, but advised me that there are 3-4 that they need to watch.

One of them was one of the little ones down below in front. The vet told me that because they are so tiny and close together that there is a high chance that the rest in that row will need to come out too, as they collapse. She described it like a domino effect. This sounds a bit odd to me, but I figured I would ask on the board.

She wants me to schedule the next dental now, just so it is scheduled as they fill up fast.

BG was higher at the vet, but that was to be expected. Fructosamine was done in the blood work and was normal.

It costs a bit less than expected, but applied that money to my account at the vet--to help with future costs.

Was the tooth that was removed due to resorption? If so, it is pretty common for a cat with resorption to end up needing additional teeth removed.

Have I told you about 1-TDC before? The dental specialist that I take my girls to strongly recommended that I start both of them on it. He says it is a great supplement that really has an impact on periodontal health. As a bonus, it is also good for joint health, muscle stamina and coat health.

I'm so glad Gracie is all done with that now. Alas, FBM is right that one resorption is often just the beginning. Glad to hear that the fructosamine came back in normal ranges. And keeping her teeth healthy will help her hold onto her remission.

If they are prone to that, it tends to happen more than once. Willow had a few teeth removed for it years ago (maybe 8 years?), and she had to have several more removed for it last year. Poor baby does not have a lot of teeth left, but she does just fine. Mia had to have a couple taken out last year. That was her first time.

It seems expensive, but it lasts a long time, especially once you are past the first month. You give it once a day for 30 days then every other day. It's in a heart-shaped capsule. You are supposed to twist off the top (I cut it off, too hard to twist off) then squeeze the gel-ish stuff onto their gums.. or, if that is a no-go, you can put it somewhere where they will lick it up. For Mia, I just squirt it on a treat and she gobbles it up. For Willow, I hold her and squirt it into her mouth; she would not eat it on her own.

The same specialist told me to use Petsmile brushless toothpaste for Mia: https://petsmileusa.com/ I have not done that yet. I finally ordered it, and it will be here later this week. You just have to get it on the teeth, no brushing. Supposedly, it tastes good, so I am hoping Mia thinks it's a treat.

Me too. It was such a relief, but such a ordeal for me. Going on about my day helped. I had initially planned to stay there, but they really encouraged me to continue on with your day.

Now, she has some eye stuff going on. I can't tell if it is allergies, or what. One eye is staying closed (not with crusty stuff though). She opens it sometimes, but for the most part it is staying closed.

July is a big month of expenses for me. I bought a couple new pieces of furniture, and ended up buying a last minute plane ticket for the beginning of August and a couple other unplanned bills.

August should be better. It's in my cart to buy.

I wonder how bad it tastes . . . it would be ideal to just put on her food. Hahaha
