Hi everyone,

I am preparing for Bubby's first dental cleaning and I've found so much helpful information on here already! I do have one question though that I haven't been able to find the answer to. My vet has offered an optional dental sealant that they put on the teeth after cleaning to prevent plaque formation for longer. It sounds like a good thing but I might not be thinking of the possible downsides. Has anyone here opted for this? Is there anything I should be concerned about? Thank you so much for any insight on this topic!

My civvie, Anabelle, had the sealant put on once. I didn't see where it helped, and actually my vet even mentioned it didn't help her. I noticed after a short while my vet office stopped even offering the option of sealant to clients. That's just my experience and it was a few years ago.

Thanks very much for your input. So maybe there's nothing wrong with it, except perhaps it's not worth the extra cost. Good to know!

I'd Google feline dental literature, and see what they say. I couldn't stand paying $ because something ought to be a good idea without finding out if it really is. Does sound apprealing though....
