? Denamarin for elevated liver enzymes?

anyone try for their diabetic cat with elevated liver enzymes?

A friend mentioned it to me. I have seen 3 vets since mr b's liver enzymes started showing up elevated but none of them mentioned anything beyond us trying to get the diabetes regulated, and that theoretically that will lower the elevated liver enzymes (and the elevated pancreas enzymes).

Denamarin and ursodiol (Actigall) are often given to cats with liver problems (Alex was given both), but it's important to discuss giving any supplements or medication with your vet prior to administering because there are certain circumstances where they could be counter-productive or even dangerous. If ursodiol is given long term, current thinking is to supplement with taurine.

O/T: I took a peek at Mr. Biddles spreadsheet. FWIW, some unsolicited advice: It's a good idea to get in the habit of getting a before bed spot check every night... especially in the midst of dose increases. Many Lantus/Levemir kitties drop lower at night. Getting those before bed spot checks can offer a clue as to what may happen during that cycle and they'll also provide pieces to the puzzle. The more pieces you have, the easier it is to get a clear picture as to what is going on.

Yes. With Lantus, you'll often see an active cycle if the +2 is the same/similar or lower than the preshot number.
When that happens, you may want to grab another spot check or two... depending on the numbers and how much they've dropped.
