Finally, I have time to give you an update about some of the adoptable diabetics on DCIN's blog.

This post features Claudia's (cjleo's) four adoptable foster diabetics: Doug, Ivan, Pewter Boy, and introducing Garamond.

Doug is pure black, although he looks mahogany in photos. His blog page is here.

Ivan is the only one of the four that is diet controlled. His blog page is here.

Pewter Boy is coming out of his shell. His blog page is here.

Garamond is an older boy, but sweet and loving. His blog page is here.

The rescue that Claudia has been fostering for has closed down, so Claudia is now completely responsible for the costs and placement of these foster cats. I would say that in itself is a reason to push for the adoption of these boys, but knowing Claudia, she would just take more foster diabetics in. So may I just say that these boys are way past time for needing homes and hearts of their own.

The other cats currently on DCIN's adoption list are:

I invite the foster beans of cats on the DCIN adoption list to post updates about their charges on this thread. You may see new threads during the week if cats are added to DCIN's adoption or courtesy post lists. (The courtesy post list is here.) You also may see the foster beans post about these cats on Health and the Insulin Support Groups.

Nobody won beasley and twinkie in the fundraiser??

Best of wishes for all these babies to find homes...

and kudos to all their fosterbeans, and DCIN!

venita, why are these cat adoption posts being put here on lantus? are these kitties on lantus? if not, maybe these should go on community instead.

Hi Chris,

The posts are copied through Latus because that is the largest of the forums (based on total posts) and would then seem to have the most eyes. The posts are actually on the Health Forum, and will only bounce to the top on Health. The posts will be off the front page of Lantus well before the end of the day.

Tawny is Home!!

For those who might not have seen the ever-so-subtle mention in Tinkerbelle's OTJ party video yesterday, Tawny is a "failed foster." I knew that Desi had offered Tawny a home for as long as she needed one, but after seeing Tawny referred to that way, Desi and I chatted and, yes...

TAWNY IS HOME!!!

Chris,

Claudia here. All my fosters are on Lantus, except Ivan, who is in remission (over six months). I've had two other fosters that went into remission within two weeks on good food and a low dose of Lantus in the last two months.

So, I don't post on the Lantus board because I have 5 cats on insulin and that is more work than I have time for.

I use AccuChek Aviva meters with memory and the software to download to my computer. Each cat has their own meter. That is as much record keeping as I can do.

I also have to test myself multiple times a day.

Hope that posting these fosters on Lantus makes sense. Some of these guys would love a home of their own.

Remember Ruthie? She will have surgery for 3-4 oral resorptive lesions and two areas of skin tumors tomorrow. The vet estimates $558 to $772. We have raised $158 so far.

Please send "do great" thoughts for Marty and Ruthie. Marty says
As long as I have had pet kitties, somehow this little girl just seems so much more special to me. I hope she will be okay.

More on Ruthie

Good news: DCIN received another $100 towards Ruthie's dental/skin tumor surgery. That came from Diabetic Cat Care, which sent it for unrestricted funds. It is my decision to put it towards Ruthie's surgery. More good news: Ruthie is out of surgery and is doing well. Marty is bringing her home in about 3 hours. Bad news: 6 extractions. I haven't heard the final $ amount, but Marty says the vet is going to try to keep it at the high end of the estimate...$772. That means DCIN will still need $401 to pay for Ruthie's surgery.

Can you help DCIN pay for this? Even $5 or $10???

Today Marty said...
It DEFINITELY takes a village to raise a kitty cat!!

Cheryl's Whiskers goes to the University of Minnesota vet school clinic for consultation this Tuesday. DCIN has pledged up to $480 for the cost of the exam and blood and urine tests. Poor Whiskers is feeling so poorly and her regular vet seems at a loss. Please help DCIN pay for its part of this visit. If you can't contribute for Whiskers, that's OK. She would like cyber-scritches too.

Whiskers's DCIN blog page, explaining her situation and the reason for going to the vet school, is here.

ETA: $200 raised as of Sunday morning. $280 remaining.
