I am not familiar with this meter and it appears relatively new, but here are two links that give some good reviews. They are from a human point of view, but it is considered a human meter.

ETA Also not sure if the meter needs to be plugged into your phone to work or if that is only for the software application for tracking numbers.

It does look like it needs to be connected to your phone ( and it only works on certain phones at this time) since it has no batteries itself and uses the phone as the power source

As of February 2015, the Dario is compatible with:

iPhone: OS 6.1 or higher:

  • iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 5C, 6, 6 Plus
  • iPod touch 3rd & 4th generations
  • iPad 2, 3, iPad mini, iPad with Retina display
Android (OS 4.1.2 or higher):

  • Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, S4, S5
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2, 3
  • LG/Google Nexus 5"

"The one main disadvantage of the Dario Smart Meter is that, should your phone run out of charge, you would be without the use of your Dario Smart Meter too. This means that you will need to ensure your phone is well charged when going out or that you bring your phone’s charger with you in case it does run out of charge at any point."

Did a research, it does not look great to me.
Is there a link on forum for latest research on accuracy of different meters?
From what I've found in i-net, Contour Next is one of the best, and is sold over the counter.

I've seen the links before, and Contour Next looks good on it too. Thought there was a new research.

If there are any new reports you have to be subscribed to Consumer Reports to view them. The 2016 link was provided by a member that was subscribed at that time. The Contour Next is a good meter and a number of members here have used it and are happy with it. The only drawback is that is requires a bit larger blood drop for testing than some other meters 0.6 microlitres If your kitty is a good bleeder then it wouldn't be a problem, but I like to have a meter that only uses 0.3 microlitres.

My current meter also requires 0.6 ml of blood, so that is not a problem.
Contour Next's reports are good, and it is the same price as the one I am using now. Also I like that you can add blood for a test, if not enough was drawn.

Thank you for your time and info.

To me the meter should be fine since al meters work by the say principle.
My concern is that it would be more difficult to maneuver the phone/adopter/strip in order to sip the blood from the ear. The phone/adopter/strip is very large compared to just a BG meter.
I use one of these
https://ihealthlabs.com/glucometer/wireless-smart-gluco-monitoring-system/
It transmits the BG reading to a phone and I find the shape and size very easy to use. Strips are $12.50 for 50 strips
